Subject: Junk Yard Tails IP: Logged
Message: I recently went to a junk yard in search of fog lights for my 2000 v6 dodge dakota R/C sport. I currently have the white factory inserts, and wanted to replace them with oem but didnt want to pay the oem price,so i went to the junk and after having no luck in finding them i was then told buy some guy there that the lights wouldnt mount in the holes even if i cut them out that i needed to purchase a bumper that already had the holes from the factory. I was like Riight. has any one put lights in there? If so what kind works good besides oem. I want a good clean white look not discount auto parts special with the cheesy yellow look. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

Message: The thing with the bumper is correct. If you look at one with factory fog lights, the bumper has the mount molded to it. I found a nice set at Walmart that were the perfect size but would require brackets to be fabbed up and I only had a day before I left for England. Anything that is the same size as the hole should fit fine.

Message: I installed a set of aftermarket fog lights in my 2001 QuadCab
I bought them from AutoAccessory.com
Bought the Dakota fog light kit: PILPL119X
http://www.autoaccessory.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/AutoAccessorycom/start.d2w/report?sku=46677
I used a knife to cut the holes in the air dam,
and then cleaned it up using a dremel tool with a sanding wheel.
The Fog Light Kit comes with an "L-Shaped" bracket that attaches to the frame of the truck.
The bracket attaches to the frame behind the foglight holes via a pincer type arrangement.
The bracket has a "u-shaped" channel with bolts on one side. The U-shaped channel slides over the frame, and then the bolts are tightened to push one side of the u-shaped channel against the frame.
