Does anyone know if they make a fuel injection
performance kit for the 2001 3.9L V6 dakota?
K&N does not, any ideas.
Thanks.

Message: Dave,
The part number Lesley gave will work with some slight mods (some slight manipulations of the heat shield) from what I have read. Lesley does know her stuff. If you go to www.speedtweaks.net. Bernd has the KN-1517 for 2000-2001 daks. I think there some changes to the heat shield and re-locating bracket for the cruise control. I also read that K&N has some quality control problems. Good luck.

Message: ok... from Moparperformance.com (Mopar's online catalogue), the part number for the MP FIPK is P5007069.
it is sold on Summitracing.com as model number DCC5007069. The cost is $299.95. If your have a good relation with your dealer, you can get it for less than that.
Now, according to MP, it fits the 3.9, 5.2, and 5.9 engines.

Message: That is made by K&N, and sold by Mopar with their price tacked extra on to it. I think speedtweaks sells it for around $235 for the 57-1509.
NJQC Dak, thanks for the compliment, I just do my homework before I spend any money:) You were right, 2000 and up is a diff. part number.(and price, $265)

Message: Yup...the Mopar "Cold Air Kit" is built by K&N for Mopar (they just change the sticker). The 2000-2001 model is a better bet as they (K&N) fixed the airhat cracking problem in this version (57-1517). They added a intake tube support bracket which keeps it from wobbling around on road bumps.

Dear all,
Thank you all for the info. It's great to chat with other Dakota owners and to get their opinions. This is a great website!
I will shop around for the FIPK and see what I come up with. The truck is snow covered right now so there is not much I can do, other than shop for performance parts...
Keep on Trucking!
