Subject: V6 horsepower? IP: Logged
Message: How much horsepower does the stock V6 magnum engine have? (I have a 99 SLT ext. cab if that helps) I also added a standard flowmaster exhaust and k&n air filter, would this raise or lower the horsepower at all? if so, by how much? thanks, im trying to get an approximation of the HP in my truck

Message: the v6 is rated at 175 HP at the flywheel so you will have to deduct for a Auto or 5spd

Message: 175hp/225lbft of torque. Your mods should help power a little. Most of what you have installed will give sound much better than power.

Message: on a good day, driving downhill with a 100 mph tail wind. actually the flywheel hp is about right, gain a few more by using a true cold air intake that gets its air from outside the engine compartment, most of the comercially sold ones get the air from under the hood. mine uses air that comes in under force, from the opening next to the radiator, ever put your hand out the window at 70 mph? that is how much pressure I have in my intake system all the way to the throttle body, at wide open throttle the vacuum gage I installed actually shows about 1 lb of manifold pressure, but only when I am really haullin butt down the road and the throttle is wide open, sort of a poor mans turbo. on a static dyno test it showed only a 5.5 hp gain but the time slips showed a more like 15 hp gain with my home shop brewed ram air.
