I talked to a local guy at an automotive shop today. He is probably one of the best around my town. Well anyways I asked him about putting a v8 throttle body on my 3.9 dakota and he said that it is not a good idea. He told me that it will work for a while but later down the road you will have problems. Just something to think about if you are planning or have put on a v8 throttle body.

Message: I'm not saying I don't believe this guy since I haven't used a V8 TB on my truck, but what kind of reasoning did he give? My grandpa has the same views as him, but he also believes in the saying, "If it ain't broke, don't try to fix it."
I know I for one would definitely check out more sources and keep researching, especially if he wasn't able to provide specific reasoning.
Josh (as well)

Message: I too would be interested in what problems he thinks it would cause. I've had the V8 TB installed on mine for 2 years now. Ask him for some details and post'm for us.

Message: How about some more info on what he said, Josh. A lot of mechanics are into the "if it works, don't mess with it mode" but if he has a real reason not to do it, I think people with the TB would like to hear it. I've had my 48mm F&B on for 18 months now and I haven't had any problems. I'll admit though, it does help to have the other mods such as pulleys, 1.7 RR, intake mods, exhaust and headers. But they all do come together when it's done. Might want to add that to the mechanic you talked to because it does work.
Wouldn't want any other!

I've heard that you can't put RT wheels on NON RTs too from mechanics. Something about how you can't align them with those wheels on.
Then there's the coil-- the coil fluid on the V6 isn't compatible with a V8

Message: I'm just curious as to what can go wrong with a bigger throttle body? I can only see you using more gas because of the high air flow you will need more gas right?
