Subject: 30,000 Miles IP: Logged
Message: I just recently passed the 30,000 mark on the 3.9 5 speed, and was wondering what I should start checking or what I need to replace. The truck is running perfectly and I want to keep it that way by maintaining it as best as possible. I've heard some people say that by 30,000 miles things like belts and transmission fluid should be changed, but according to the owners manual I shouldn't change these for a while. Any help is appreciated.

Message: You only need to change the belts if they are cracked or noisy. I would change the tranny fluid every 30K regardless of what the manual says. Right now i would also change the coolant, rotate the tires, make sure the rear brakes are cleaned, lubed, and adjusted, check the air filter, do an alignment, and of course change the oil.
