I have a 1996 Dak that will not shift out of second gear when it is cold outside. If I rev up the engine and let my foot off the gas it will eventuall shift. Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated!

How long has yours been doing this? I'm worried that if I don't fix it know, more problems will occur. Mine has only been having problems for about 3-4 months.

If you have a 4 speed auto w/overdrive replace your transmission Governer pressure selenoid. $100 from the dealership. You should replace the tranny thermister at the same time $90.

I would be more inclined to believe with a cold problem your starting to have hard seals in the front clutch pack. After the first shift it works fine all day.Once the seal gets expanded it will not leak by. I wouldn't just go out and start buying parts. you can put all the sol. etc in that trans and if it is a hard seal you will have wasted your money.

Trust me! Replace the parts. You will spend that much just to have a tranny shop troubleshoot it, and tell you you will need a rebuild.
