Subject: Proposed smog check for 1959& newer cars IP: Logged
Message: In my opinion this is crap. On 28 March 2003 California will try to pass this bill, which will require cars from 1959 and newer to get smog tested. This better not pass because most people who actually have restored and fixed up their pre 74 hot rods will have to take them in to get smogged. The only way to not let this bill pass is people have to go vote no on this. If anything pass the word around. I've attached the link that will take you to the bill so you can read it. It’s Bill 708. Heres the link:

Message: Don't worry - there were no smog requirements for motor vehicles prior to 1971. 1971 was the first year for emmission laws.

Message: True, smog control on autos was pretty much non-existent on anything before 1970.....BUT I hear that California is trying to make it a requirement that ANY vehicle on the road will have to pass the emmissions test! Here in Texas, starting May 1st, any vehicle pre 1978 must pass emmissions. Guess I gotta go buy a damn cat for my Dak! :(
