Subject: 2000 Clutch IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a 2000 V6 Dakota 5 speed manual with 65000 kms. I had the vehicle inspected and they didn't point out any problem with the clutch, however I'm wondering if it's a bit worn.
In first the pedal travels 80% from the floor before engaging and if I try fast shifts there seems to be a noise in the engine/transmission from 1st-2nd and maybe 2nd-3rd.
This is the first truck I've owned so I'm not sure if this is just a truck thing, or if there is a problem. I'd appreciate your comments on whether this is a problem and perhaps an indication of what a new clutch costs.
Thanks for your help.
Russell.

Message: If it's a grinding noise between gears, then it's synchronizers. Not an expensive part, but you gotta take your tranny out.
But you probably have clutch chatter or something...
