Message: No don't punch out the convertor. Chrysler convertors are not horse power robbing as GM convertors are. They only rob horse power when they overheat and melt from running too rich. This is why the plug up. Why butcher your convertor? Remove the convertor and save it for a later date. Intall a straight pipe in it's place. This will give you a deeper sounding exhaust and save you the trouble of buying a new convertor when you get caught but the emission police.

Message: OBDII It will turn your check engine light on, and will effect Drivability to some extent. Point is, the converter is not hurting anything.
I don't know about you, but sitting behind one of those old clunkers that have no emission devices on the exhaust during a hot summer day at rush hour is sickening enough, why pollute the air when you don't need to.
Your converter has been designed to meet the horse power requirements of you truck(and then some), so why mess with it?

Message: It depends on the year, Gen I II or III. Gen I s are really bad. The old honey comb style. If you Dak is a 1987-1991, loose the cat. If your dak is newer than a 1991, get a high flow unit. Either way, I removed the cat on my 1990. Made a difference in performance and alot in sound. I like it! Good luck.
