Ok I have a 97 v6 dakota and i want to lower it and put the sliver 17 inch R/T wheels on it. Well here is my question i would like to lower it 3 and 4 if i do will the 17" fit. And if anyone has a pic of there truck the is lower 3 and 4 could you send a picture of it so i could see what it looks like.

The Hotchkis kit and 17" "Mopar Accessory" rims (R/T clones) work very well with 255/50-17's.

Sup Chad,
Hey congrats on wanting to lower your truck. I myself have an 87, but I dropped it 4''s in Front and 6''s in the rear, and I'm about to run 18's or 20's on it. The answer to your questions is yes you can run 17's on your truck with no problem. You can purchase a set with the right offset and everything from tirerack.com, or you can go the route I'm going (more expensive) and call up some of the more promitable aftermarket wheel companies and find out where a dealer is near you. Most of these companies are nice enought to tell you about plus 1 plus 2 sizing for your truck. I beleive that the 97 Daks have a 6 lug bolt pattern, but that shouldn't be too much of a prob. Try looking inot Aim industries for the lowering componets or sporttruck direct, they seem to have the best parts for the price (quality wise). Hope this has helped you out, and can't wait to see some pics of your Dak when it is done.

There is no difference.Just keep in mind that the stock 255/55R17 tires will rub on the fender lips with a 3" drop on the front.Go to the "Lowered Dakotas" forum for more info on lowering your truck.

I have a 99 with a 2 inch drop in front and in back. I'm riding on the 17x19 R/T rims with 255/55/17 tires. I have no tire rub whatsoever. Pictures here http://mark-world.com/dakota

Ok. At first my truck was riding on the 17" RT's with the 255/55 and lowered 2" up front..had no problems with rubbing...now my 20's on the other hand...heh..

Mild front end drop - remove front tires
Mild rear drop - remove rear tires
Mild all-around drop - remove all 4 tires
Significant drop - Same as above, but remove the wheels too.

The R/T rims, at least the 17x9, are no longer made. I just did a search through various dealers around the country and no luck finding them. Ebay might be a good source, if you don't mind not having the Dodge logo on the center caps you can get reproduction rims easily online. www.aaarims.com has many Dodge O.E.R. wheels and they are they cheapest reseller of these wheels.

Last tIme I ever look on this forum. What normal person
disgraces a truck and turns it into a lowered pimpmobile with
20" rims- Reserved for ricers and gangsters, and maybe a
classic show truck( stretching it) What's the point in having a
retarded pick up that drags on rocks and the ground when
there is a load in the bed. Almost as bad as putting a wing on
a FWD civic, makes it useless
