Subject: MAP sensor question?? IP: Logged
Message: Has anyone had a MAP sensor go bad? If so, what symptoms did you have or would you expect?
About a week ago, my engine light came on and I got a code '14', which is 'MAP sensor voltage out of range'. However, next time I started it, engine light was off. Since then, it has idled really slow, and sometimes dies at stops. When it gets going it runs fine. Would you guys replace the MAP sensor??
About a month ago, I replaced the plugs (3923's), 180 thermostat, dist cap & rotor, and coolant temp sensor.
Thanks for any help.

Message: Theres no reason to throw parts at it since every part on a vehicle can be tested. If you look in a repair manual it should give instructions for testing the map.
Another tip: sometimes the vacuum line to the sensor can get plugged with ice or moisture and cause temporary problems, you might want to pull that hose off and make sure it is clear and dry.
