Subject: Dealer Answer to Tailgate & Bumpers IP: Logged
Message: Thanks again to all of you that answered. The dealer said the bumper was up too high. A hitch was installed after I got the truck and they must have raised it a bit when they put it back on. Which caused the rubbing on the tailgate. Since the dealer arranged all of this for me, they are going to buff it out and repaint if necessary. The bumpers are another story. They said all chrome will rust even after 4 months if it isn't protected. They suggested Mother's Chrome Wax for the bumpers and to use it on a regular basis to protect them. That still seems quite strange to me with such a new vehicle. Again they are going to take of the problem this time, but said I need to protect it. Is all chrome like this?

Message: Like they said, any chrome thats not protected will rust fast. I know someone with a 2002 Durango R/T and it has chrome R/T symbols on both doors. The plastic has started to peel off one of them, and during the same week the chrome has already started to corrode. On a bumper though, I've never really seen one rust that quick already in a new truck like yours. But I don't know if the dealer puts some kind of chrome protection on the bumpers or something? anyway, good luck with your truck
