Message: I have a 99 3.9 dak regular cab 2wd 5spd and I get hesitation at the same 2400 rpm. I have the ASP crank power pulley and it normally throws everything (compressor, alternator) off little. So its probably the PCM. It doesnt bother me that much. One thing that does it the whiplash from the power in the morning. That degrades after warming up. I would love to have that power throughout the day... well maybe not. It rained yesterday and I had no traction and I was in 2nd trying to ease on it. Anyone wanna trade bumper for my rollpan for the winter?lol Enjoy your trucks...

Message: Well it seems that a lot of people are having this problem ... and since I'm sure that DC monitors this forum for problems and solutions why aren't they doing anything about this yet.
By the way still having this problem ... Chrysler solution ... use better gas ... does not work.

Message: UPDATE:
Anyone else have any luck getting this fixed. I have mine in for this again at the dealer. They replaced the crank sensor, but that hasn't solve the problem. Good thing is after 4 reports this is the first time that they admitted there is a problem, and didn't just say they can't replicate the problem. The dealer has been working with Dodge tech and sending them several computer readouts of the engine specs. I will let you know if anything new developes.

Message: Give it some miles and see if it's just the computer relearning everything... also that 160 thermo may give you trouble. It may throw a code for engine being too cold for too long. Usually 160 thermos are only recommended if you are supercharged or running nitrous (i think?). On anything else, they say to use a 180*F thermo.

Message: thnx josh
i guess its a waiting game for now,i havent any problems w/ the 160 t-stat it was the 1 st mod-i did and its been in ther for a bout 1 year ,maybe it cause i live in florida and the 160 t-state isnt really holdin the engin at 160 its more like 170 sometimes 180 depending on driving situations ,the only down fall of it is that i removed the clutch fan and the elect- fan kicks on around 200 when a/c is not in use and on at any temp when a/c in use,i dont wanna splice the wiring and put an aftermarket temp prob- to signal the fan,id like to find wher the sensor is for the fan to kick on and replace it w/ a 185 or so ,maybe u can help me locate the sensor and wher i can get diff temp sensor thats a direct fit or close to a direct fit

Message: Has anyone hear anything new about the dakota hesitation issue - mine has evolved into violent stuttering between 1500-2000 rpm's AFTER the truck has warmed up for 10 minutes. I have a maual 99 V6 3.9 The problem then seems to get better after anotehr 15 minutes or so of driving, but the truck also surges and/or stalls at red lights during this time. Already had speed sensor/wires/exhaust replaced. this is driving me nuts!

Message: I had the same thing happen to a nissan i owned about 15 years ago. It would buck me around for about 15min until it got warmed up then it would be fine. I took it to numerous mechanics and didn't get it fixed for a couple of years. i replaced the distributor cap one day and the problem was corrected. All the money i wasted goin to repair shops and it was a faulty distributor cap.
