Just pick up your Dak, put them on yourself and save some cash and then go find another mechanic who knows something about modifications.
The mods you wanted done work very well on all Dakota's with no detrimental effects.

Message: I made a typo on the autolite's
What wires should i get with them?
Do you think the guy even had a crank pully?
IS that what i really need? How well do they
work.
See the catch on this is, Its a business partener
with my dads business so there is no labor cost. Only parts. So i figured i just have them put it on and save me some trouble.
thanks for the help

MSD and Taylor make good 8mm wires. I've heard some bad things about Accel and I think Jacobs costs too much when compared to the others (but I'm not sure about that).
The guy probably didn't have a crank pulley as most shops don't carry performance products for Dodge's. You'll more than likely have to order one from online at either Summit, Jeg's or TruckPerformance.
In my own experience and from what I have read of other's experience's I would have to say that under-drive crank pulley's work very well. Especially if you combine it with an electric fan. For our v6's, I would say that an under-drive-crank pulley frees up about 3-5hp and 6-8ft lbs torque. Enough so you notice it in the "butt-dyno".

The spark plugs and wires are a little time consuming only because of lack of space. Plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor shouldn't take anymore than a couple hours and that's taking your time & double checking everything. If you do the plugs yourself, get a flex-head ratchet. It makes reaching the plugs a lot easier.
The under-drive crank pulley is a little more involved, but can still be done with minimal tools and know-how. Actually, since you have a '98, it will be easier for you to do the pulley than it was for me to do my '99.
If you don't mind working from underneath your Dak and feeling for bolts, you can exchange pulley's without removing anything but the belt and pulley.
If you want to "attack" it from the hood, then you'll have to remove the fan shroud (4 bolts) and the fan (another 4 bolts). Check out www.intense99dak.com/hayden.htm and follow steps 1-4. Disregard my note in blue since you have a '98.
Also, if you decide to go with the under-drive crank pulley, you'll need a 94.5" belt that can be found at your local Napa. It's a 6 rib belt as apposed to Dodge's 7 rib belt, but it will work fine.

Message: Turns out.
He did put in autolite plugs but the 765?
He only used 7mm wires on it. Is this bad?
He also installed a distrutor cap and ignition rotor.
There was a vehicle falut code of 751.
Any idea what this is?
It says it was found in the transmission circuit.
It also says low signal to torque convertor clutch.
I was talking to another mech there and he said to make my truck quicker i would need to get the PCM re-programed by dodge dealer. He said it was illegal so i would have to know some one on the inside.
It looks like i am going to need a new tranny. Any one know where you can get one for a good price? He quoted me for $1,200 for a re-built one and about 2,200 for a new one. There is one on ebay right now for about 795 but i am not sure if i can trust theres.
Truck seems to run better with the new plugs and wires. Reaction time is a lot quicker and is not sluggish.
Hoping to get better mpg also.

I have no idea what the 765's are, but it your Dak runs better, then they can't be all that bad ;-)
The 7mm wires are fine for a stock ignition. If you ever upgrade to a MSD or similar, then you'll need 8mm or 8.5mm.
Code 751 relates to (from the FSM):
O/D switch pressed (LO)more than 5 mins
- Overdrive override switch input is in a prolonged depressed state
- Overdrive off switch input too low for more than 5 minutes
Have you had any problems with your overdrive switch lately?
As for having your PCM reprogrammed, it is not illegal to do so. You just won't find any dealers that will do it other than to reflash it for pinging. There is a guy that reprograms them at about $500 a whack. I wouldn't worry about having the PCM reprogrammed as there is a lot you can do to your Dak first without the need to have the PCM reprogrammed.
$1200 for a rebuilt tranny is a very good price if you live around here (New England). What type of a guarantee does it come with?
Also, why does it need a new tranny? is it related to the overdrive and the code??

Message: Try a Jet chip stage II. It goes well with intake and exhaust upgrades. After that you'll need to get reprogrammed. There's a few company's in L.A. that you can have your PCM reprogrammed. They usually have you send it to them and the price is around $350. Also http://www.krcperformance.com/ might help also. Greg
