I have the 3.9L V6 and have noticed lots of you saying the 180 degree tstat helps performance. What is the stock one? And does putting in the 180 do anything to milage? Also won't have problem in these Canadain winters I hope? Thanx in advance!

Well, just putting the t-stat in alone may not help you notice anything. Factory is 195 degrees. I have not put mine in yet, so i can't tell you for sure if it really helps or not. The idea is to help the engine stay cooler. Cooler engines make more horsepower but it is not gonna be like kicking in the nitrous either! It is supposed to help compliment your other mods, like intake, cooler plugs, etc. Does it really work? Who knows!!! But I can tell you this, the mods that I have done from the help of this site and speedtweaks has helped my truck run better, its the same as yours.

Actually, the 180 deegree t-stat tricks the engines' computer into thinking that the motor is still warming up. At cooler temps the computer richens the mixture for easier starting and running until the engine gets up to 195 degrees, which is where the computer thinks it should be running.
I tried a 180 degree T-stat and got a drop in mileage to around 21 mpg. After I put the 195 back in it went back up to 24-25mpg.
It wasn't worth it to me.

24-25 MPG?...Holy Crap I'm happy at 18MPG. How are you getting that mileage? You're either driving all down hill or you've got a tail wind!
