Message: Help!! My old buddy (4x4 3.9) has 236K and I'm fighting gas mileage problems again. On a long trip 6 or 8 months ago, the old guy started running very rough while I was doing about 65 mph. Didn't think I was going to make it home. Anyway, after replacing the computer (ECM), carb and oxygen sensor, it came back to life. 30 days ago it happened all over again but it runs better than it did after the first episode, but like the first time gas mileage dropped from 19 to 15. Somehow the carb runs at full rich all the time. I've replaced the computer again with not a bit of improvement. Mechanic says the fuel solenoid is not fuctioning and the computer is not reading outside air temperature. ANYONE got any suggestions?

Message: Vern,
Could you, or someone, enlighten me as to where to get an aftermarket Dodge V-6 distributor? I believe this fix might solve the problems I am having with my '87 Dakota that I asked this board for some help with a couple of days ago.

try any parts store NAPA etc. for reman. carb. you can just leave wiring and computer on for now.
part# for 318 kit is 312-p3690426 this has wiring, dist., ecu., and instrutions.you,ll need a reluctor from a slant 6[this is the round thing under the rotor button with 8 points on it,put the 6 point one on in place of the v8 one, it pulls right off]you may not be able to use the vacuum advance either because it may make your motor spark knock, just don,t hook it to vacuum.
hope this helps you. good luck.
