Subject: How to go about changing my v6 to a v8 IP: Logged
Message: ok guys I bought I 2002 4x4 3.9 last year and am already sick of not having any power. I just wish I would have gone with the 4.7 in the first place, but I didn't. I don't want to trade or get a different truck since I have already spent about 4,000 on the appearance of the truck. I also have the extended warranty on it. My question is how I go about this. will the dealorship be able to do this for me and just take out the v6 and put in a v8 or is it more complecated then this witch I am afraid it will be. also what would be the price I would have to pay to get the v8 and how much do you think I could get for my v6, it has almost 17,000 miles on it and no probs so far. sorry for all the questions, but I really don't have a whole lot of knowledge about the subject.

Message: Just modify the engine. The V6 is a powerful engine. The V8 is good, but sucks the gas down like nothing.
if you really want the V8, I would suggest trading and buying a new truck.

Message: Modifications that would make your truck close to or even more powerful than a v8 will void your warrenty most likely. The only way something can void your warrenty is if that part which you modified caused the problem. Now if you port the heads and change the cam and put all the bolt ons and do pretty much everything you could do to the engine it will be much faster than the v8. Thats with a supercharger and everything. But if you are worried about the warrenty even a engine swap will definiatly void the warrenty so either way you are screwed with that. What kind of power are you looking for and what mods do you currently have? That will help us in determing what you need to do.

Message: I currently have 1 mod and thats dual exhuast! I do not want to go the supercharger route it is just to damn expensive. I have looked into the chip, headers and a k/n filter. I am looking for at least 25 horsepower but more like 50. what do you think I need to be able to do this. thanks your help so far guys.
