Subject: how to convert??? IP: Logged
Message: i was wondering if any one on here new of a way to close an open diff like some kind of insert or somthing or would it be eiseier to just get a whole new rear. also i was looking for a detroit locker but cant find one that will fit my rear housing. i just want to put power down to both feet when the gas is on the floor

Message: You can by lockers and limited slip kits for it but they are expensive and require professional installation. You can also weld the spider gears to the case but then you could never drive the truck on the street.

Message: the cheapest way is the welding. get a good welder and get scrap iron and shove it in there to beef up the welds. You can drive this on the street but every turn you take you will hear a tire chirping.
the next cheapest way would be a trac lock. Most cost around $120-160 and are easy to install... it might take a couple times but you can do it yourself
next you could get a powertrax, easier than the trac lock but costs around $400
