Subject: Clunking in the rear somewhere... IP: Logged
Message: I was just driving home from my friend's house and I noticed this clunk from the rear-end when I take a fast turn.
My bestfriend's girlfriend's '67 Mustang had this same symptom not too long ago, and this mechanic tried to charge her $1500 to change out the entire back end, but then she went to another mechanic and it turned out that it was just the wheelhub bearings. Also ended up only being $240, as opposed to $1500...
Anyway, I'm thinking it might be the same thing... Or it could be the U-bolts... I had some 2" lowering blocks on for a while, but I took em off to get some traction and ride quality back. They might just need to be tightened down again.
Any ideas?

Message: In your case, it might just be the spare tire. I took mine off when I was installing some lowering blocks, and I never put it back on. But I noticed when I'd hit a bump, I'd get this weird clinking noise in the back that kinda sounded beer bottles clinking together. Needless to say, it concerned me for a while. I looked under there later on and it was very obvious it was just the spare tire.

Message: Thanks for the input. I had checked the spare tire once, and it seemed secure. Also I can feel it like it's coming from near my seat. I tried to recreate it by having my dad hop on the rear end while I was looking under it, but to no avail.
