Subject: Plug Wires IP: Logged
Message: Whats the biggest MM you can go on a 3.9 for plug wires and is my wife right in that size does'nt really matter or do these engines like a bigger wire. I have 8mm wires on it now. Thanks

Message: you can buy bigger plugwires all you want.
They won't help though unless you get some type of hotter coil to make a bigger spark to use the extra size

Message: The only difference in a larger wire is the insulation. This is to protect the wires from heat and other electrical interference. The conductor size does not change in a larger wire therefore a larger coil is not necessary. You can buy wires with a larger insulation that have less resistance (same conductor size)and flow current better. Now, a larger coil can help by giving you a hotter spark and burning the fuel more efficiently. But, wire size does not matter as far as performance goes.
