 Subject: power shortage

i have a 93 4x4 and when i push the pedal to the floor its like is starving for air or gas but it sounds like its reving up real high but it dosent go up in rpms at all i have been trying to figure this out for the last 3 months that i owned it and i am getting no where so any help would be great thank you

mabye its the belt or the air filter or spark plug. i'll ask my cousin hes a mechanic i will get bac with more info
