Message: Rod, I've had the same symptom with my '00 5-spd. I don't know if your squealing has the same cause, but on mine, it was just a lack of lube. I crawled under the dash and depressed the clutch by hand to see if I could find where the noise was coming from. It turned out that the point where the clutch pedal pivots on its mount just needed some lubrication. I gave it a good squirt of WD-40, and it's been squeak free for about half a year now. If lubricating the clutch pedal at the mounting point doesn't take care of it, try lubing the spot where the clutch pedal pushrod pivots on the pedal (it's a small metal rod that comes out of the firewall and is bolted to clutch pedal about halfway up it). If that doesn't do the trick either, it could be more serious, but I'm not a trans expert - I don't want to just take guesses at what else it might be.
