Message: If you're talking about a GenIII V6, the only header available are JBA's. For older trucks, you have more options. I've got a set of JBA ceramics on my 2002 V6. If headers is all you've got on your truck, you won't likely notice any difference at all in performance. Matter of fact, even if you add a muffler, intake and TB, you probably still won't notice much difference.
Stainless or nickel plated headers are less expensive than ceramic, but they tend to rust and discolor, and they wear out quicker. Ceramics retain their original finish and tend to keep things a bit cooler in the engine compartment. They also add about $150 to the price. Since the V6 Daks have a tendency to bust exhaust manifold studs off at the head, that was the primary reason that I decided to go with headers, rather than any real hope for a big jump in performance. I decided to spend the extra $$ on ceramics for my truck because it's new, and I want them to last as long as possible and look good.

Message: Pros:
- Get rid of those rusting, stud-breaking stock manifolds
- In concert with other intake and exhaust mods better performance, quicker throttle response
Cons:
- Can be a headache to install, especially if studs break
- Price
I have silver ceramic jba headers on my '97 V6...

Message: i have a couple of mods on my truck already and i just heard that with the addition of headers you could loose some low end power, i was just wondering if that was true. im only gonna have my truck probably another 2-2and a half years, is it still worth getting ceramics?
thanks in advance

Message: You're right, some folks have reported an apparent loss in low end torque after installing headers. In my case, I didn't notice any such thing. I left all of my stock diameter exhaust in place, replacing only the muffler, and I didn't perceive any difference at all, good or bad. Now that I've added a few pieces, it seems like it's gaining some strength, but it's still no ball of fire...I might be a hood length quicker than a stock Dak at the track...but, I'll never find out, since I don't race. With a V6, the best thing to do is just leave your stock 2 1/2" pipes in place. Personally, I believe that 3" pipes are too big on a V6, unless you've got some really serious mods on it. Exhaust gas velocity falls off too much if your pipe diameter goes too big.
If I were only going to keep my truck another 2 years or so, I doubt that I'd spend the extra money on ceramic headers. Stainless headers should last 2 years just fine if you keep the bolts tight and keep the crud cleaned off of them now and then. They will likely turn blue or gold at the heads, and may rust pit a little. I'm probably going to have my truck for 5 or 6 years at least, which is why I opted for the ceramics.
