 Subject: truck wont start, cat related?

I gutted my cat yesterday and in the process of doing so I busted one of the sensors, but after all was done and back on, I tried starting the truck even with the broken o2 sensor, but all it does crank, so I bought one today put it on and it still wont run?! Could it be something else and just be a coincidence? or can a o2 sensor keep it from starting? The engine cranks over fine and ran just fine before I gutted cat. I have a 96, 2wd 3.9l. Any help is apprectiated, Thanks
