I have '98 Dakota with 3.9 and a 5 speed. Im running down the highway at 55 mph at about 1800-1900 rpms. I have the 3.21:1 rear end. I have an air raid intake. I'e been considering a set of cheapo ebay header since i have a crack in the driver side stock manifold. I was wondering if an aftermarket company had put out a taller rear end gearing kit. If there isnt one, what is an inexpensive way to get better fuel economy.

There are gear vendors all over the web. That probably won't help your mileage though. What kind of mileage are you getting?

My 95 Dakota with 4x4 club cab and 3.9 auto and 3.42 rear end is so powerless it wont hold overdrive in a headwind or any kind of grade. Most of the time I just lock it out because of the constant shifting in and out. Putting higher gears in your truck wont help gas mileage. The biggest mistake I made was installing 9.50 xx 16 tires.
