Message: I too need some advice...
I have an 03 3.9L 2wd with a 5 speed, a/c and cruise control and I'm looking to install the K&N filter from the 5.2/5.9L. I have read a few posts about the cold air intake, and i haven't really seen a clear answer. I want to know if I will have to move the CC to fit the CAI? I'm trying not to sound stupid, but I'm 16 and this is my first truck.
Any help is appreciated... :)

Message: I tried the same thing, from a F150 k&n Filter
kit. Pain in the butt, and never got it to idle
correcly. Map/AIR sensor is inseterted into the
K&N, and is not pinned correctly for the dodge
application. Autozone can get the perfect kit, its
a carb cover with duel ram air outlets, and you
run the flex duct to the fog light areas on the
front of the truck lower bumper skirt, or prefab
your own holes, and add the ARE Tornado filters at
the end of that.. That being said, I can know out
run an RT 318 by a bumper in the quarter mile
stretch and still pull. And I only have the V6
Manual :)
All together, its about 300$ , but you get TRUE
cold air Ram intake. And well worth the money.
Hope this helps,
Donnie Kinchen

Message: maybe I should have been more specific, I wanted to use the K&N cold air intake from the same year R/T model dakota with the 5.9l v8. It appears in photos to have the same factory installed intake box, and people talk about using the intake from that truck. I was hoping someone could tell me if I could install that specific intake, without any aditional modifications, I dont have the time or experience to be playing around fabricating something for my truck.

Message: I'm not sure about the K&N system, but AIRAID makes a cold air intake that fits the 3.9. With that system, you reuse the stock air hat. The intake hooks to the end of the stock flex tube. No sensors are affected. I think you have to move something for the cruise, but they give you instructions and parts for this. (I don't remember specifics since my truck doesn't have cruise and I installed the intake years ago)

Message: @ Ed Yuhas
Yes there are superchagers out there but they are kind of difficult to find for the v6 dakotas. but they are very pricey and they are now even more difficult to find because companies stopped making them. Also take into consideration that when you put a supercharger on a dak 3.9 you have to retard your timing so your engine wont detonate. And if you want your engine to last very long after this install of the superchager you might want forged internals. But if you got enough money anythings possible
