I neeed to change the oil pump in my 89 dak, any tips i should know? Any tricks to make it any easier, anyone give me a quick rundown of the process?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

get an engine lift,youll have to let go the engine mounts and raise it up. make sure the pickup is in securely alot of guys well have the pickup tube brazed to asure it dosent fall of.
find yourself some string to hold the lower pan gasket to the pan,tie it through the bolt holes,well make it alot easier to get it all together.
get the truck up on some realtivly big blocks the more room you have under neath the less sore youll be at the end of the day.

thanks, any other suggestions, i have a cherry picker, so thas not a problem, i already have the mounts unbolted just came in to get warm... damn MI weather, going back out to lift the engine, how far will i need to bring it up? Oh yeah, i was working on the ground but i got frustrated and lifted it up on jackstands much much bettter.

lift the engine up untill it come close to the fire wall ,if i remember correctly i removed the distributor cap, and the oil pump sending unit to gain a extra half inch or so.

thanks for the help chris, i appreciate it. I have the oil pan loose, all the bolts out but one, on the drivers side in the back, but i have to be at work ing like 4 mins and its a 10 min drive so it looks like i'll finish up tomorrow. Cherry picker makes it sooooo much easier, any other tips lets here um.
