Subject: Just put on ASP crank pulleys IP: Logged
Message: I had the local auto guy put the alternator and crank pulley on. The volatage meter at idle is at like 11-12 volts, which sucks. Also, i haven't felt any difference in performance than before. Will it take the PCM 100 miles to get the most HP/ Torque out of these pulleys? I am quite dissappointed that i can't peal out any better than before and that is why i bought them, for more low end torque. The engine does seem to run a little smoother though. Can anyone tell me if this is a normal response to having these put on, is this all that was a possible gain from the pulleys?
thanks.

Message: I don't have the altenator pully, just have the crank pully on mine, so I never see below 12V. Ah, what other mods do you have? If you only have the pully and no intake/exhaust work done, then yes, you probally won't see much of an increase above a smoother idle since the engine is -still- starving for air. If you have an intake and some exhaust work done, you should see a little more. I don't know if the computer has to learn it, I ended up resetting my computer when I did mine (had to reroute some cables).
I learned to drive from James Bond and playing Grand Theft Auto

Message: I have a dual flows exhaust, and a drop in K&N already on. I dunno, maybe it needs a little more air to come in. That will have to wait for my next mod is a Fastman TB.

Message: I put the complete set on mine from ASP and I noticed right away. The initial take off is great, easier to do burnouts. :)
Here are the mods I have on my 1996 V6:
Home made cold air intake
IAT moved to intake
Crower 1.7 rr
asp complete underdrive pulley set
V8 thottle body with top milled off
S bolt
JBA headers
brass contacts in cap and rotor
Autolite 3923 spark plugs
Flowmaster muffler
I do have the low voltage at idle problem as well. It is only a problem at night, in the rain, when your stopped and the turn signal is on. With all that stuff on you need to put it in neutral and give it a little gas. :(

Message: Whitedakota2: How do you like those Crower Rockers? Did you install them yourself or did you have a mechanic do it - cause i would kinda like to know how much it would cost to put them on. One more Q - How much HP/Torque did you get from them?
thanks

Message: I like the Crower 1.7 rockers! They help a lot. I have not been on a dyno yet but just found out there is a new one in my area and plan to put the old Dak on it when I can get the funds to blow.
I installed them myself. For any half way good garage mechanic it will not be to bad of a job. Just check yourself each step for proper torque on the sstuds and adjustment of the rockers. Also get a good set of valve cover gaskets to put on when you do this. I like the rubber ones or the rubberized cork over just the plan cork ones.
