It is well established that headers are a definite improvement over stock exhaust manifolds. My question is why, and why don't manufacturers put headers on their "RT" package trucks or cars?

Manufacturer's would probably put many more performance parts on if it werent for the extra-strict emission laws they have to follow. That is about the main reason, Dodge reccomends 180 degree T-STAT's on the Magnum engines, but they cant even put those on because of the emission laws.
