Well Yes, No, Sort of........

If your taking about the K&N drop-in for the stock box some stores might carry it in stock but more than likly you will have to order it or any K&N product for a Dakota, The Drop-in will help your truck breath better, your Butt Dyno won't know the difference unless you include some other mods....Muffler, TB, RR's etc.etc......

I have the K&N FIPK for the 5.2-5.9 V8's on my truck it looks great but it is a little pricey for no more HP you get out of it.

thank you dakotadan, i do have some exhaust work done to it but no other mods yet.another question on this would it be better to buy that drop in or build one with a cone filter like suggested on speedteaks.net?

The slickest setup I've seen yet is from DeepPurple he took the elbow off his stock air box, enlarged the hole and routed a hose to the front of the grill (where the littler rubber flap is/was) for cooler air. I'm not sure but I think he did this with a Drop in K&N, you might e-mail him for more specifics.

I just went to the parts store and grabbed one off the shelf. Improvement was pretty good. I don't regret the $40 upgrade. got about 5000 mi on it. There is a foam prefilter I want to get for it to keep the element cleaner longer.
