Subject: 92 Trans slips only when cold IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a '92 Dakota EC 4wd with v6 and auto. The trans has a problem in that it slips with cold. Not in terms of shifting from gear to gear but just takin off. When it does move it shtifts fine. After it warms up, it launches fine with no problems. I will changing the fluid and filter tomorrow with 7176. Does anyone have any ideas if this is fatal? The previous owner stated that the truck has been doing this for two years. It has 193k on it. I bought it for $1200 thinking that it may need a tranny...

Message: try getting the bands adjusted ,have the tech do a stall test for you while your there
also ,a fundemental part of warming a vehicle in cold climate is to take it out of park ,place the truck in nuetral or drive to get some fluid moving and warm the transmission.after all its no good sitting in the pan
