I recently purchased a Flowmaster for my '99 Dakota. A friend was going to help with the installation, but, he moved within a week of my getting the muffler.

When i attempted to remove the original, i noticed that the clamps had crimped the metal together. How hard is it to get this apart without using a blowtorch or hacksaw? I pounded on it with a hammer and screwdriver, but, i was afraid to hit it too hard. Not sure how much the cat or the O2 sensors can handle.

I had a 93 that I took the stock muffler off of, and put on a cherry bomb. I had to go to a hack saw, there was no way to get it off any other way. I rattled the cat a good but, but it was a'ight when I took it in for emmisions checking. But your hammer and screwdriver prob won't work.

if u don't want to wreck anything, just take it to ur local muffler shop and have them instal it. i was gonna get it done @ my local shop for i think it was $28cnd because he said if i had the parts he would just charge me the 1/2 shop fee depending on how long it takes. but if its just the muffler it should be pretty cheap and u won't have to worry about damaging anything. when i get my muffler thats probly the way i'm gonna go.

hope that helps
Phil

Use a grinder to cut the clamps off.
