Message: I hope you know that those aren't TRUE xenon headlights. There is a kit available to convert the Dakota Headlights to a true Xenon HID system, but it's around $600. As for the bulbs you are referring to, IMHO do not purchase them. The visibility decreases vs. Increasing. Plus cops just look for lights with a "bluish glow" as the "xenon" output. Stick with stock bulbs, they last longer, are brighter, and last longer.

Message: You can either replace the bulbs, same light number as stock, install a kit 600.00 +, or keep your stockers. Try looking at midnigntmoose.com. They have a good selection of bulbs and kits, as well as a cross refferance for you to look at what your application needs

Message: i will have to disagree with tom about the "bulbs" lowering visibility. i have the piaa 9004 platinum bulbs and they burn a whole light brighter than stock, visibility definitely improved, and they are DOT approved in all the states.
as far as those other bulbs, the "blue" he is referring to are those annoying and cheap bulbs you buy for about ten bucks. those burn out really fast and visibility does decrease. stick with the piaa platinum super whites.

Message: Speaking of the HID conversion kits.... Anyone have one? I'm very actively considering putting HID's in my 98 Dakota Sport, but am wondering how much of a loss not having a high beam would be. I think if I do convert, I'll go an get some PIAA driving lights and throw some PIAA superwhite bulbs in em to make up for the high beam. What are your inputs?

Message: tom, when i bought my truck i had no foglights. i am finally done with all the "other" mods and just got done with my lights. to be honest, i don't think the HIDs are worth it especially if you're a college kid like me but it doesn't mean you can't improve visibility. the first thing i upgraded were the bulbs to the piaa super whites. i was pretty satisfied but then i decided to fill in those empty holes and got a pair of piaa 510 ion-crystal fog lights. at the same time i also replaced the corners with some clear ones and replaced the bulbs with piaa wedges. everything cost me around $360 and i am very happy with the results.
