Subject: Exhaust decisions... IP: Logged
Message: Hey guys, I am about to install an exhaust system on the dak(single in/dual out). Which muffler would be the best to go with, I am looking to get as close to the V8 sound as possible. I know that i wont get that sound, but i want to be as close to that point as possible. BTW, i have the 3.9L V6. Thanks for any help.

Message: Personally, I like the flowmasters... Try a 40 or 50 series muffler. I have yet to hear them on a V6, but they sound good on V8's, so they cant suck, plus Ive heard good things about them, But ya, thats what I'd go with.

Message: Flowmaster 50 series deltaflow is the way to go. It has an awesome idle to it. Plus, unlike the 40 series there is no ricy sound at upper rpm levels, especially around 2000 rpm. I got mine put on 2 weeks ago, even a V8 dakota liked the sound of it. I had 2.25 in. pipes out the back put on. It has a deep sound from idle up to 1900 rpm. My mom told me that it sounds almost as loud as my dad's vette coming up the street.
I know this is alot to read, but i hope it helps.

Message: Depends on how much you wish to spend. I have a Vortex muffler, cheaper than flowmaster, but sounds great! Performance curve is just below that of the flowmaster as well. But, of course, if you are loooking at the best you can get, definitely Flowmaster. Of course, haven't heard much about Gibson on a V6, don't know how they perform.
