Subject: 97 3.9L Dodge Dakota - two questions IP: Logged
Message: Hi there, I have a couple questions relating to my truck. I am a severe incompetant when it comes to vehicles, so these may be stupid questions, if so I apologize.
1. When I lift the hood and idle the truck, I can see something click on and off. It is connected to the belt. Belt keeps spinngin but whatever this is clicks, stops spinning, and shortly thereafer, clicks again, and starts spinning again. Normal??
2. When starting the engine it sounds fine, but eventually starts to make a slight rattle. The noise is constant, doesn't get louder or quieter, but it is something new that I never noticed before. Dealer said it is timing chain noise, normal and nothing to worry about.
Can you help
Thanks,
J

1. would probably be the AC compresser, if you have the climate control set on anything other than VENT or FLOOR the Compresser will cycle on & off.
