So i was heading home from work in the express lane with my friend. I was in the left lane, line of cars to my right and no one ahead of me. I look in the rear view mirror and there is this white lexus suv come flying up on me. He is very pusshy so i decide to speed up and get out of his way. I'm conentrating on him and the cars next to me, get over to the right lane, start slowing down, come around the turn, and there it is.
COP!!!! He starts speeding up in the meidan, gets behind me and turns on the lights!! DAMN!
87 in a 55!!!
He didnt care about the lexus "i pulled you over"
So march 3rd is the court date.
I already have a 4 point ticket from 3 or 4 years ago.
My birthday is 3 days after court, how many points to you gain when you turn 21?
I figure they will drop atleast 2 points for showing up to court. Maybe i could get them down if i offer to goto traffic school, do community service, or pay a larger fine.
Thoughts??

Hmmm...Here in Florida a state trooper pulled me over doing like 95 in a 65. I told him I was staying with the flow of traffic (which means I was racing a rice burner) and was heading to work, which I was, and he gave me a warning.

OK, let me be the bad guy here. Now the speed limit was 55 and your were doing 87, hummm 32 over and your point is? If we like it or not, the meaning of the speed limit is the MAXIMUM speed you may legally go, not 60, 65, 70 etc. Its not too difficult to understand. Although we ( I'm included) may not agree with speed limits, they are the law. If you break it you get a fine and in some states you also have the privledge of also paying increased insurance rates. Now before you think I'm not guilty of this stuff myself, I have had one arrest for drag racing and another for speeding and reckless driving, playing Mario in my 911 though town. Ahhhh youth!
I may suggest another course of action with some moron that tries pushing you...SLOW DOWN..piss 'em off and smile! It a lot cheaper and the money you save can be put to a good use like parts!

Bill...no slam, I agree with you. Doesn't the speed limit apply to the "express" lane, just like the other lanes? Or, do the signs say, "Express lane Speed Limit 75, other lanes speed limit 55"? Is it really an Express lane, or is that just what everyone calls the left lane? I'm not trying to be a smart aleck, or get on anyone's case, I'm just trying to say that all lanes have the same speed limit, it's just generally regarded as common knowledge and courtesy that the left lane is where the faster drivers spend their time. If the speed limit is 55, and someone's doing 60 in the Express lane, then they're perfectly within their rights to be there. If someone comes up fast on their tail, then to h*ll with them. They can wait until you find a place to safely get over, while you continue to maintain the speed limit, or slightly above. It's not worth getting a ticket because someone else is trying to be an anus. I'm not innocent, either, I also know what it's like to break a number of traffic laws...but, I just stay out of the left lane in order to avoid the aggravation.

Pistolero, you are exactly right. The speed limit is the limit. I have a few friends that are state cops, and rarely issue a ticket for anything under 12 MPH over the limit. A few years back, they raised the speed on some 4 lane roads to 65. There are some that think that ALL 4 lane roads are 75.
You know, I never get upset with someone driving the speed limit. I do however get terriably po'd at some mental miget tailgating me and trying to make me go faster. They have a better chance of see'n god than makeing me speed up. Like I said, I just slow down and really fire'm up. Some idiots think .... I have the right of way...I'm right and your in my way". OH well, mabye a baseball bat would help their social development.

I have had 27 tickets and not one is on my record. Look in the yellow pages for traffic lawyer/ atturn. There only about 100 to 165 bucks and they takle care of it. It will not go on your record.

Its never the soccer mom that gets pulled over. If you got a Lexus you ain't worth a cops time on a speeding ticket, because you're gonna get a lawyer and fight. But as a counterpoint, screw the soccer mom in the SUV if she's gonna pull on your tail ike a dummy, slow down, let her hit you, and get yourself a Hemi-Ram

The left lane is for passing only!
If you're not passing anybody in the right lane, get the hell over into it. Keeps the traffic flowing better if everybody uses the left lane to pass a slower vehicle and then moves back over to the right.
