I was just wondering if someone could tell me how far back in year i can go to swap and engine for my 1990 dakota, I am talking about doing it with ease, as in just a simple swap for the same engine, I know taht everything changed in 1991, but how far back can i go?

Depends on what exactly you mean by
"I am talking about doing it with ease".

By doing it with ease i mean it will bolt right in, all the wires are the same, etc... but i would also like to know, can i use a different chrysler engine, perhaps a 3.9 from a car or something

I hear ya now.

No, the only thing you can simply "bolt in" would be another 3.9 from a 86-91 Dakota,1500 or van, they never put the 3.9 in anything else (in the states anyway.

As far as using different Chrysler engines, the skies the limit but none will be a "bolt in".

So a 91 will bolt in easily, I thought that they changed in 91 but maybe I am mistaken is it 92 that they changed
