Hey guys i raced a 99 eclipse gsx turbo AWD the other day and kicked his ass.It has 210hp and 214 ft.lbs. of torque.I have a 99 dakota CC SLT 3.9L 175hp and 225 torque.I have dual exhuast no mufflers on it only.I dont know how i beat it but i have been told that those cars are really slow.So if you guys ever run into a turbo eclipse auto not a 5-speed then you will probly win,inless you cant drive.Remember its the driver not the car.Can you drive good enough to beat a AWD turbo?

Congrats on the kill. However, I raced a '90ish Talon AWD Turbo Auto at the track and he handed my ass to me in a pretty lil box with a bow on it!! I was ahead til the 60 foot mark, then he flew by me. I ran a 17.0 at 80mph and he ran 14.2et. It was prolly pretty modded. The turbo took a while to spool up which gave me a false sense of hope.

Does anyone know where i can find a computer chip for a 3.9L that adds more than 100hp?I have been looking at superchargers but it costs to much and i have a ext. warranty and i want to keep it.Thanks

I beat a turbo'd Civic onetime, and he looked over like, "OMG!!" it was pretty funny...
BTW, my truck is a stock 3.9L w/ only an Intense Performance intake and relocated IAT sensor.

yeah, those little ricers are pretty fast!! I don't race my truck at all, it is slow!! No mods though either, maybe mods would help.

some affordable naturally aspirated mods (i.e., no nitrous or boost), such as a performance filter, rollerrockers, t-stat, cat-back, PCM, and ignition can get the Dakota into the 15's in the 1/4 mile. Really not bad!! Some moderate boost/spray, it should be in the 14's. Ask Bernd, he's got one of the most worked out V6's around.:)

i could of sworn that the 99 eclipse didnt come with awd... but either way good kill! i have seen many of the older ones run at the 1/8th and they werent impressive at all... like 10.5-11.0 e.t.

there isnt one that adds 100 hp much less more. Maybe 15 hp most with other mods but thats getting lucky.

There is no F*****G way you beat a turbo AWD in a stock dakota. Unless he wasn't trying and you just thought he was, or he can't drive for nothing. If that is the case good kill.

i have to agree also. my friend has a GSX with 87000 miles with NO mods he runs 14.5 in the quarter. he probably was a rs with different badges. and why the hell would you say that your car is better than it really is. if anything, put crappy model badges on a better car. my friends GSX has GST badges so that the people that he beats thinks that he can launch a FWD car like a pro

Well i think its pretty stupid to pay $250-$350 for a chip that only gives you 15-20hp.If anyone has found them cheaper please tell me.I have looked at 4 or 5 web sites and there all about the same thing.And is there something eles i can add to get more hp with paying alot of money and i can do myself.Thanks for the help

I own a 92 awd plymouth laser(samething as an eclipse) I put down 594hp@7230. I've been running low mid 10's all year. I also own a v6 dakota!! Turbo and nos. Stock 1/4 for my car was 14.1 @ 101. My dakota hauls engines and gets me back and forth to work in the snow!! A 2nd gen eclipse has a t25 turbo which is tiny, but still has 15 flat quarters!! I just don't see a stock v6 dakota doing anything but seeing tail lights, or the guy can't drive, which is entirely possible.

To make my case, I beat a 1989 CRX slushbox on a running start with my 1970 VW bug. I had a modified 1949 flathead Ford 2bbl ( called the bugspray carburator )and heavier tires than came stock.
My buddy was driving his mom's car and I just took him. Later, I got my rear end handed to me on a platter by a Toyota Corolla ( and a woman was driving it! ) My only consolation was that I had 3 extra bodies in the car slowing me down-and ridiculing me at the same time ).
