Subject: Best Flowmasters for V6 IP: Logged
Message: What is the best flowmaster muffler for my V6 dakota? i have intake and am planning on headers, 180* thermo, and some other mods. I am gonna get dual, single in dual out at probably 2.5" Any info would be great, especially first hand experience. Thanks.

Message: I would say a 40 series flowmaster sounds good for the v-6's. I have a 50 series, and I like it but the 40 is a little deeper and less ricer.
Wouldn't want any other!

Message: with flowmaster, the lower in the series you go the louder it is, I'd go with a 40 series.

Message: I would go with 2" outs. You will need the back pressure.

Message: in my opinion, the 50-series delta flows is your best bet. not too loud in the cabin but gives a pretty deep rumble outside (still sounds like a v6). it doesn't sound "ricey" like what these fools say. it sounds "whitey" or even "crackery."

Message: It depends on what you want. All Flowmasters give improved performance over OEM. The 50 Series delta flow is loud, and resonates in the cab. I found it really annoying, but I'm an old guy. The 70 Series that I replaced it with is almost as quiet as OEM, but rumbles pretty well outside. I like it.

Message: I want a sound that is nice and deep without the honda/import sounds...i hate that. Especially when i am crusing, around 55-70 mph's, i dont want it to be whining. Just nice and low at idle, when i gas it, and when im drivin i want it to be a good sound. thanks all.

Message: I put a 70 series II big block on mine 2 1/2 in 2 1/2 out. It's basically the 50 series 3 chamber but longer to be an almost perfect fit to replace stock muffler. It's rather quit, but sounds good to me.

Message: Why yes I do. flo-52572. I got it from Summit Racing. $98.00 or so to my door. Go to manufacturer search, drop down menu to flowmaster and put part # 52572 and it will tell you all about it.

Message: I have a RC. It has double the note that the stock one did at idle, and in the cab it is a mild rumble. When I get into the throttle it has 2 1/2 times the tone but it's not open header loud or anything. I use my vehicle for couriering from a small airport (noise restrictions at night) to a federal building (guards with shotguns) so I needed it to be kinda mellow. I like the muffler. As I said it is basically the 50 series just longer in my opinion. If you compare the two you may come to the same conclusion.

Message: Hmmm, still sounds like the Flowmaster 70 might be a little loud for me. My Dynomax Super Turbo is much too loud on my V6, and I just plain, flat don't like the V6 sound. I've decided that if I'm going to hear my exhaust, it's gonna have to be coming from a V8. On my V6, I want the stock sound level, or just barely above it. Any mufflers that can do that, without putting an OEM unit back on? Anyone tried running 2 mufflers in series? Anyone tried a Walker Quiet Flow?

Message: I would also recommend the 70 series Flowmaster. It sounds louder than OEM, but not much louder in the cab. It gave me a noticable power increase and I am very satisfied with it. However, I don't think you can go wrong with Flowmaster in general.

Message: I have an automatic, but I haven't heard any of that droning. Could it have something to do with the TPS mod I did to improve throttle response? There is almost no lag when my truck kicks down a gear.
