Message: Background: '91 Dakota, 3.9L, 5-speed, positraction rear end.
I am looking for ideas about a couple of problems that I believe are unrelated.
The first may be related to the engine. As the engine is revved, there is shaking that feels like something is out of balance tho I would not discount the possibility of an ignition miss. This shaking is independent of transmission engagement.
The second may be related to the transmission and/or rear end. There is increased noise and vibration when the truck is under load such as driving down the highway, up a slope. Back off the throttle or put the clutch in and the noise disappears. The u-joints all appear good but I noticed that when pushing on the drive shaft at the rear of the transmission that I can push the yoke sideways. Is there a tailshaft bearing that can cause these symptons? Problems in the rear end that are load sensitive?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Message: Driveline noise/vibration could be u-joints. Your probable right about the ignition. I'd start with these, and go from there.

Message: What was not mentioned was that the plugs, wires, cap and rotor have been replaced. Compression is 150psi across all cylinders (manual measurement). Tho I have had plugs fail out of the box....!

Message: New electrical parts does not always mean good parts. I've had brand new Accel wires that one was bad and it was hard to find what the problem was because I wouldn't believe it could be the BRAND NEW parts.
