Subject: Heater Problem IP: Logged
Message: About a two years ago I had my 97 Dakota serviced for a water leak, the dealer removed my dash to repair this and since then when I have the heater on blowing through the front vents and I accelerate or hit a bump all the lights on the dash turn off and the heater stops blowing untill I stop accelerating. I didn't notice the problem untill about 6 months after I had it serviced because I live in Florida and don't have to use the heat much. Has anyone seen this problem before or has an idea of what to check?

Message: If it's a V6, you might want to check the Cricetus cricetus or its wheel. Its a common problem in all of the 3.9L engines, as well as the 4 cylinders. It probably has enough power to be able to accelerate, but can't push the accessories at the same time. It may be time to change one out. Good luck.
