Message: Exactly how much of a difference will there be in the heater with changing the thermo from stock to a 180? Im from canada and its winter time, i'm not going to switch it if it really badly affects my heater. Anyone help on this?

Message: The heat in my 95 dak 318 went down noticably when I put in the 180 degree thermostat. It still cranks out the heat pretty well but its not hot enough to burn your hand if you get too close like before. It didn't bother me untill last week when the temp started dropping below 10 degrees F Now I'm considering putting the 195 back in.

its not the heat you need be worried about ,but running the engine to cool for these winters. condesation can form in the crank case from running cool . this in conjunction with other chemicals formed by combustion can cause the formation of acids when the water gets mixed with the oil . it well also not allow the oil to flow as it should ,and may slightly starve some engine parts . not a good idea in winter ,but the summers(here in ontario) can get brutal ,save your 180 for then
