Message: proud new owner of '98 dakota. 2 weeks after purchase, the v6 threw a rod through the oil pan!!
thank goodness for the bumper to bumper warranty, (although i am now convinced that most warranty companies will fight to the death over every legitimate claim). anyhow, after a rebuilt block (used), and some resolved timing issues, new spark plug cables, etc., i am satisfied with the performance of the most beautiful truck i have ever owned. but, should i be merely content with the performance of this truck, my only toy, or should i spend every available $$$ i have to make it the supercharged beast that it was born to be... where to start? top speed now is about 90. any suggestions on how to blow the doors off my competitors? ogrefonzie@aol.com

My manual responded very nicely to bosch platinum fours (plugs) and a K&N filter. That alone got it to climb hills. Yet if you want superchargers are nice go for the whipple kind, if it will fit. Only prob is that with the 6 block you really can't safely go more than 400 hp, so just get a hemi crate motor instead, that's what I'm waitin for!
PS. I also have JBA ceramic coated headers, dynomax muffler (not impressed), a tweeked throttle body from fastdodge.com (WAY TOOO EXPENSIVE paid 1200 for it, but is was a new one any way, worst part was I waited about 4 mo. for it), crank underdrive pulley, 1.7 compression roller rockers (very nice crower, a bi*^h to tighten correctly though), MSD 6 ignition with superconductor wires, like both very much. That system also has the tach adjustor. Just for looks I now have the fender flares, and a pace edwards top (shi$$y in the cold weather, and you have to lube the darn thing every third time of opening it, NOT impressed). And to allow the truck to actually stop and go I have 265/60r15 tires. And the nicest thing to have when wanting to rip through the gears a Hurst shifter!
ALL in all my top spee is up near 115, and that was without half those mods. Yes the speed limiter kicks in at 110 but just lift off the gas and slam it to the floor she'll keep going.
