Message: a thermostat that has stuck open ,a faulty viscous fan clutch,
given that its a 4x4 and i have done this myself ,drilled a hole in the thermostat to increase flow ,or put a cooler thermostat in ,if your the orginal owner this may have been done, if you recently obtained it, this may very well have been done

Message: What size thermostat do you recommend right know it has a 180 degree thermostat should I get like a 160 or something, could the problem of it runnin too cold be the water pump because it leaks I still have to replace it?

Message: A leaking water pump will not cause it to run to cold. If it was the dealership that told you it's running to cold, their diagnostic equipment most likly picked up on the colder thermostat.

Message: I run a 160 thermostat way down here in Houston with no ill effects. I live buy the age old addage...."if cold is good, colder is better". I've noticed most of these Dakota speed freaks on this message board run a 180 .
