 Subject: Not another V8 throttle body ?

Yes it is. I was wondering if a 2000 V8 TB (50mm) would be a good choice to go on my 2000 V6? (not sure of it's diameter) Is it just a matter of unbolting the old and putting the new one on (with new gasket of course). I am aware that I need to change the TB cable. Also will my choke cable fit on new TB linkage without changing it?

Thanks. Some of this stuff looked interesting. I did'nt see swapping throttle body instructions or anything. Is that why you refered me to it?

Dirkota: I switched my 01 with a 99 tb. Straight bolt on. Think twich about buying a new cable though. Check my info about v-6 to v-8 tb without switching cables. ( a few pages back) Save the money and time spent for better things. Also there is no choke cable since these engines are electronic. If its an auto the other cable is kickdown and no you wont have to change anything else. As an extra measure I did swtich my sensors on the tb's with my stockers since I know they work. Also make sure to clean the new one real good before installing. A little Carb/TB cleaner. Hope this all helps.

Cool. It would be nice to not replace the cable but I also am not to keen on drilling and grinding. I will more then likely wind up with a big mess. I will look at both options more closely. I'm not in a hurry to replace. Thanks for the tips. Were you happy with the outcome of new TB I.E. more torque or HP?

Yeah. Actually I'm more happy with the headers I put on this past summer since I switched TB's. Prior to the TB I lost a little in both HP and TQ until I switched TB's. Then the engine woke up. Still not a 426 HEMI but yes there will be a differnce even without the headers. Do you already have a free flow exhaust? Also don't waste your money on the "spacer". That thing didn't do jack. I'm in the LA area. Are you near here? If so I'll be happy to help with the switch over. No charge. If not take the TB's to a machine shop and have them do it. It will still be cheaper and cleaner then switching cables.
