Message: what front hub are you using to run 5-lug wheels?? also how much suspension/drive train change did you have to do to fit that 8 3/4 under the rear?? i have a 94' just like yours except mine is white. im wanting to put the old wheels like you have on mine i think that look is more MOPAR looking. i just have the aluminum alloys that came stock in 94'...but i was just wondering what hub you used and what all you had to change to make it all work out for 5-lug.
thanks

Message: For the front all you need is hubs from a 1990. Most all parts stores cary em, no other change needed.
Now the rear is a whole different story.......the 8 3/4 is out of an E body (Chally/Cuda).
You will have to be pretty good at weldin, know someone who is or have deep deep pockets.
You will have to cut off the original spring perches, buy and weld on new ones in the right places. You will have to weld on lower shock mounts (I used the lower mounts for coil overs) and then if you have the small U joint pionion you will have to get and adaptor joint or change the yolk to the larger style.
After all that and brake lines are adapted then you may have to have your driveshaft shortened.
I read about a guy who did this and didnt have to have his shortened but mine simply was too long. That was another 125.
All totally worth it to me but I have less than 500 in the whole rear swap myself.
If you plan to do it than start lookin for 8 3/4 memebers, its nice to have a few stittin around with various ratios as it only takes about a half an hour to change em out. I can go from 3.23 to 4.10 in that time, pretty sweet if you ask me.
Good luck and let me know if you need more specifics, I'll post an email for you if your serious about doing it.

Message: hey thanks alot man, my uncle has a 1990 model dodge dakota sitting in his back yard with the tranny out, and told me if i needed any parts to have my pick...so the front spindels are the first thing im gonna get.
now the 8 3/4 is gonna have to wait till summer till i can save up some dough to buy that stuff. i graduate this year and plan to go to a 2 year tech school to get my feet wet on electrical engneering...but any way i can get my hands on i think two 8 3/4...i used to race go-karts and four wheelers and kinda go to the local strip, and have a few drag racing buddies that can help me out with the rear end setup...i like the idea of coil overs also...there is a dakota at the local strip that runs a 6.0 on the motor and has a 9" ford and coil over.....but hey thanks alot.

Message: If you have a 90 donor Dak than get the rear also.
If the 90 had a V6 than the rear should be an 8 1/4 like yours so it'll hold up.
If its a 4cyl than its probably the small rear, I think 7 1/4 and that'll probably be too weak.
But if its the big one at least you'll have the 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern all the way round.
Good luck.
