Don't feel too bad. The Jeep 4.0L is a very potent engine. (Never under estimate them.) My wife has a '94 Jeep GC and with just a cold-air, hotter coil, IAT Adjuster, and a Magnaflow exhaust (high-flow cat to match)...it runs VERY strong.
Modified TB coming for it as well along with a few other "tricks".

Those 4.0 liters haul A$$ dude, don't feel bad. I'm able to take my buddy's 96 4.0 cherokee most of the time, but sometimes he'll get by me.

What gears are in there.
I checked it out and it
says about 190 195 Hp stock on
the 6.
I can beat the 5.2 4x4 ram.

Yeah, my 4.0 in my Cherokee Sport will really move out as well. I have a '91 Dakota 3.9 5-speed and it isn't nearly as peppy, however the '91 is only 125 hp stock and the 2000 Jeep is 190-195 hp stock. Too bad the 4.0 is on its way out, would have been interesting to see how a Dakota would be with this inline six in it.

horse power is pretty much an anomaly because horse power is only the rate at wich torque is produced so to say a vehicle has more hp so its going to win is just plain stupid...as for the guy that got beat by the grand cheroke dont feel bad because i get beat by my friend stevens evrytime we race by a little less than a car length...i have a 5 speed with injectors cai and a iat resistor chip...he runs like 10.63's and i run 10.68's in the 1/8...

Hey sic-
You didn't mention throttle body but if you're still running stock get a V8 or modded V6 TB - it won't get you off the line any quicker but above 2K rpm it's a HUGE difference, even on an otherwise stock motor.

I've owned 2 jeeps w/the 4.0; a very nice engine. much stronger than my 3.9 - and durable. I put 200K on my comanche before rust and a brother in law totalled it. I would still have the GC if the wife hadn't rolled it.
