Unless you are running huge tires that is way to much. 3.91 gears would be your best bet for all around use. You could probable get away with 4.10 but you would really kill your top end and gas milage if any of that matters to you.

You will get a quite a bit of acceleration, but I don't know how much. I know that you will lose some top end speed, but once again I don't know how much. Your truck will probaly become a gas monster. I might want to see what some of the others have to say and not base your entire decision on what I'm saying.

Gearing makes a huge difference, so choose wisely. It makes a huge gas milage decrease. However, it adds to the fun factor of the truck. I like the 3.91s, but I would have to say the 3.55 is the best all around gear for drivability as well as performance in my opinion.

i have 4.10's in my 95 x-cab v6 auto. i drive my truck everywhere, they are the best. i wouldn;t go much higher than that.

What trans do you have? And what gears do you have now?
If you have the A500 with 3.55 gears(215/75/R15)
3.55 OD off= 2584 rpms @ 60 mph
4.10 OD on = 2059 rpms @ 60 mph
4.56 OD on = 2290 rpms @ 60 mph
And if your wondering about 3.92s, the rpms at 60 is 90rpms lower than 4.10s.
