Got a question. I have a '98 V6 and was wondering if there is any way to install an electric water pump? I do know that the water pumps for the 3.9, 5.2 and 5.9 are the exact same ones from the manufacture. So, what do you guty's think?

Oh yes, an electric water pump. Sounds like a great mixture, I didn't even know that there was a such thing.

I recall an article in HOTROD magazine about a smallblock chevy water pump using 8 ponies @ 7000rpm. Now we all agree that our motors lay dead after about 4300rpm so I would guesstimate a usage of 5hp max. This does not take into consideration the fan. Is the exspense worth it?

Don't know about the expense. But would look damn nice. Money really isn't the issue on this end. More of a "can I do it" thing.

I don't know the answer to that one. If parts are available, Summit Performance Parts can get it.

well, i figure since the factory ones for the V8's fit the V6's, that I maybe able to get one for the V8 aftermarket. I'll try it and see. Thanks.

This has been brought up a few times before, I being one who asked was told that the electric pumps have no where the flow capacity to cool these engines. This was by many of the site experts. They say the best mechanical unit is the flowcooler.
