I have a 01 Dakota CC with a 3.9L. In the last few months I have noticed a whine that seems to come from the right side of the truck when I accelerate over 40 mph. The noise gets louder the higher the speed, and it seems to be coming from an area under/around the passenger seat. I would appreciate any suggestions on what this problem could be.

I suspect a wheel bearing/hub

No, it is constant, it is kind of like a whining noise. I noticed it really bad today, and it starts right at 40 mph.

The rearend gear problem (as posted on this forum)starts making noise at that speed. But if it's just on the passenger side, could be hub or wheel bearing. Some times a tire will make noise, just like you had a snow tire on. Rotate the tires just to see if the noise changes.
