Subject: Engine noise IP: Logged
Message: I have a 01 Dakota CC with a 3.9L. In the last few months I have noticed a whine that seems to come from the right side of the truck when I accelerate over 40 mph. The noise gets louder the higher the speed, and it seems to be coming from an area under/around the passenger seat. I would appreciate any suggestions on what this problem could be.

Message: No, it is constant, it is kind of like a whining noise. I noticed it really bad today, and it starts right at 40 mph.

Message: The rearend gear problem (as posted on this forum)starts making noise at that speed. But if it's just on the passenger side, could be hub or wheel bearing. Some times a tire will make noise, just like you had a snow tire on. Rotate the tires just to see if the noise changes.
